Sonic Generations is not just your ordinary Sonic game, it's a special edition that was created in order to commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. That's 20 years of some of the best fast-paced arcade games the world has ever known.

Past and Present are in dangers because of one Time Eater robot

In order to celebrate this special event, this game features two different selectable forms: the Classic and the Modern. The main difference between these two modes is that the Classic Sonic is played in a 2D perspective while the Modern Sonic allows players to try it in a 3D perspective (even with Stereoscopic 3D).

The game features nine different stages (two more than the 3DS version) spread across three areas, each taken from a different Sonic game. For example the City Escape is from Sonic Adventure 2 while Planet Wisp is from Sonic Colors.

The heads-up display is quite simple: you will have the number of lives left in the right corner of the screen and the timer on the left corner of the screen. Below the time is the number of rings you have collected so far.

The 2D and 3D are not the only differences between Classic and Modern. Gameplay is also affected as in Classic, Sonic is able to perform 'old-school' moves like Spin Dash and Spin Attack, but in Modern we can see boosting and homing attacks.

Sonic Advance is a 2D platformer game that spanned a whole new series on Nintendo handhelds. Level design are also better with bigger stages and larger levels. Playable characters are: Sonic, Knuckles, Amy, and Tails! Sonic Advance also features Time Attack Mode and Versus mode.
